Family Surf Lessons in Gran Canaria: A Safe Ocean Experience for Kids and Parents
Gran Canaria is one of the easiest places in Europe to enjoy an active family holiday. Warm weather, beaches, ocean activities and short travel distances make the island especially practical for families staying in Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, San Agustín, Meloneras or nearby areas. For many children, a first surf lesson becomes one of the most memorable moments of the holiday. It is active, playful and different from a normal beach day. Parents, however, usually ask the right questions before booking: Is it safe? What age can children start? Do parents need experience? Which beach is best? What should we bring? Pro Surfing Company has worked with visitors in Gran

Kitesurf Safety Tips for Beginners: How to Learn Safely in Gran Canaria
Kitesurfing combines wind, water and a powerful traction kite. That is exactly what makes the sport exciting, but it also means that a beginner should learn in a controlled sequence. The safest first objective is not standing on the board. It is learning to understand the wind, control the kite, activate the safety systems and respond correctly when something does not go as planned. In Gran Canaria, the teaching plan cannot be separated from the conditions. Wind strength and direction, tide, waves, available beach space, obstacles and other water users can change the risk at the same location. A responsible school therefore checks the student, the equipment and the day

Where to Learn to Surf in Gran Canaria: Best Areas, Lessons and Local Advice
Gran Canaria is one of the most practical places in Europe to take a first surf lesson. The island has year-round tourism, several coastlines exposed to different swells and a wide choice of surf schools. The important question is not simply whether you can learn here, but where to learn to surf in Gran Canaria according to your accommodation, age, confidence and the conditions on the day. Las Canteras in Las Palmas is the best-known fixed surf-school area. The east coast offers alternatives such as Playa del Hombre and La Laja when their wave, tide and wind windows are suitable. For visitors staying around Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, San Agustín,

Surf Maspalomas and South Gran Canaria: Beaches, Conditions and Local Advice
Visitors searching online for ‘surf Gran Canaria’ often assume they must drive to Las Palmas or the north coast. That is not always true. Surf in Maspalomas and the surrounding south can be suitable for beginners and progressing intermediate surfers, but each beach works differently and none should be treated as a guaranteed daily spot. The most practical southern options are Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés and San Agustín. El Callao in Arguineguín can also produce surf, although less frequently; the beach consists entirely of rounded cobblestones, with no sand, and is suitable only for intermediate surfers when conditions align. Anfi del Mar and El Pajar belong to a different category:

Best Surf Spots in Gran Canaria for Intermediate Surfers
Gran Canaria can give an intermediate surfer everything from forgiving beach-break peaks to faster walls over rock. The difficult part is not finding a famous spot. It is choosing a break that matches your actual ability, the swell, the tide and the wind on that particular day. A label such as “intermediate” is never permanent. A sandy beach break may be manageable in small, organised surf and become heavy, crowded or dominated by shorebreak when the conditions change. A reef break that offers a clean wall at the right tide can become shallow and unforgiving outside its usable window. Pro Surfing Company has worked with visiting surfers in Gran Canaria

Best Things to Do in Gran Canaria with Kids
Gran Canaria is an easy island to enjoy as a family, but the best plan is not always the one with the longest list of attractions. Children usually remember the day they caught a wave, explored clear water with a mask, walked through the dunes or discovered a mountain village far more clearly than another rushed sightseeing stop. The island combines beaches, warm weather, volcanic landscapes, historic neighbourhoods and outdoor activities within relatively short distances. That makes it possible to build a family holiday around half-day experiences, leaving enough time to rest instead of spending every day in the car. At Pro Surfing Company, we have worked with visitors in

Kitesurfing in Gran Canaria: The Complete Guide for Beginners and Intermediate Riders
Gran Canaria is one of the most exciting islands in the Canary Islands for ocean sports. With Atlantic wind, warm weather, volcanic coastline and different riding areas around the island, it can offer very good opportunities for kitesurfers. But if you are planning to learn kitesurfing in Gran Canaria, there is one important thing to understand from the beginning: the best spot is not always the most famous one. Kitesurfing depends completely on the wind, tide, water level, beach space, sea state and rider level. A spot that is perfect for an experienced rider can be uncomfortable, difficult or unsafe for a beginner. A beach that works in one season

Surfing in Gran Canaria: The Complete Guide for Beginners and Every Level
Gran Canaria is one of the most versatile surf destinations in the Canary Islands. With its volcanic coastline, Atlantic swells, mild weather and different surf areas around the island, it offers opportunities for beginners, intermediate surfers and experienced riders. But surfing in Gran Canaria is not simply about choosing the most famous beach and jumping into the water. The best surf spot depends on your level, the tide, the wind, the swell direction and the conditions of the day. A beach that feels comfortable in the morning can become less suitable later, especially for beginners. This guide explains what you should know before surfing in Gran Canaria: where beginners can

Posted on Google![]()

I had an amazing experience with Prosurfing School Maspalomas in Gran Canaria, and I honestly can’t recommend them enough. A special mention goes to Paul, who was incredibly kind from the very first moment. He gave us a surf day we had been dreaming about for a long time. His attitude was not just professional, but genuinely warm and welcoming — you immediately feel like part of a small surf family. He was so helpful that he let us take two boards for the price of one, so we could switch depending on how the waves evolved during the session. That level of flexibility and understanding is rare. The entire team was extremely polite and friendly, creating a relaxed and familiar atmosphere. On the first day, unfortunately, there were no waves and I couldn’t surf. The next day, Paul gave me a board for free, offered me some surf gadgets as a gift, and made sure I could fully enjoy the experience. That kind of generosity is something you don’t forget. Every time I come back to Gran Canaria, I will rent my board from him — not only to surf, but also to spend time chatting, laughing, and enjoying the true spirit of surf culture. This was honestly the most perfect first surfing experience I could have imagined. It was my very first time on a surfboard, and I’m incredibly grateful that I got to experience it with this amazing surf school. My instructor, Dani, was absolutely fantastic. He guided me step by step with so much patience, calmness, and encouragement. He explained everything clearly and made me feel safe and confident in the water. Thanks to him, I managed to stand up on the board several times during my very first lesson! He didn’t just teach me how to surf, he gave me an unforgettable experience and sparked what I think is a lifelong love (and maybe a slight addiction 😄) to surfing. He was so amazing that we’re actually driving back from the north to the south across the whole island just to surf with him again! And every time we come back to Gran Canaria, we will definitely book our lesson with him. I truly can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you for such an incredible experience!
